Thousands of lives were saved on 9/11 because of the brave work conducted by firefighters, police officers and EMT's under extremely dangerous conditions. According to Anthony Carbonetti, a former Chief of Staff to the Mayor of New York:
“The fire department and the police department saved thousands of lives by clearing the buildings,” Carbonetti says. “Tens of thousands of people not only worked in both of those buildings every day but commuted underneath. They did a phenomenal job of minimizing the number of casualties, and that you have to give them a great deal of credit for.”
